Our mission

Our mission is to tell you the truth about your energy plan, whichever way it lands. When switching saves you money, we show the dollars. When staying is the right call, we say so and mean it.

The problem we started with

Hundreds of thousands of Australian homes have added a battery, most under the federal rebate. Many are still on the plan that suited the house before the battery arrived. The gap between a plan that works against a battery and one that works with it is often hundreds of dollars a year.

Nobody in the chain has a reason to tell you. The installer's job ended at handover. Your retailer earns more if you never look. Comparison sites are paid when you switch through them.

That's what bothered us. Most "free" comparison is paid for by the retailers being compared.

PowerLens works the other way. You pay for your answer, and nobody else does. No retailer pays us, so no retailer can buy a better position in your report.

How we keep the answer honest

We earn nothing whether you switch or stay. That is the point of PowerLens.

That sentence is on every report we produce, and the business is built so it stays true:

• No commissions, ever. We take no referral fees and no payment of any kind from energy retailers. If the best plan for your house pays us nothing, it is still ranked first.
• "Stay put" is an answer we're happy to give. If you're already on a good deal, the report says so with the same prominence as a switch verdict, and it's free.
• If we can't prove it, we don't claim it. Plans that can't be priced honestly from your data are set aside and counted, never ranked on a guess. Every figure in your report shows its working.
• Money back if we get the numbers wrong. Email us, no questions asked.
• Your data is yours. We read your bill once and delete the file. We never sell your data. You can delete your report yourself, permanently, any time. And no one phones you afterwards.

Who we are

PowerLens is PowerLens Pty Ltd, ABN 85 699 732 904, a small independent company in Melbourne, founded in 2026. We are not owned by, invested in by, or partnered with any energy retailer.

It started with our own house: solar on the roof, a battery on the wall, and a suspicion that the plan was wrong. We built the engine to answer our own question and tested it against our own bills until the numbers matched to the cent. Then we opened it to everyone with the same question.
